Kythe-Ateneo holds first benefit concert for pediatric patients

DEDICATED TO pediatric patients, Kythe-Ateneo its first benefit concert, MusiKythe: Kamp Jamboree, on February 28 at Bellarmine Field.

Through the concert, Kythe-Ateneo aimed to promote its in a 鈥渃ozy鈥 atmosphere, highlighting the organization鈥檚 culture of warmth and family. Notably, all proceeds from the event will be used to support the (KFI) and Kythe-Ateneo鈥檚 initiatives.

With from The Ridleys, BGYO, and Janine Te帽oso, the fundraising concert raised Php 120,000 worth of ticket sales and donations, which was awarded to KFI.

Melodies of hope

Elaborating on Kythe鈥檚 advocacy, MusiKythe Project Head Luis Nicolas stated that the team chose to hold a fundraising concert as they believe that 鈥渕usic creates a universal language of love and acceptance.鈥

Echoing this, MusiKythe Co-Project Head Naomi Resurreccion expressed her hope for the event to inspire hope and enlighten attendees of Kythe鈥檚 vision. 鈥淎ctions don鈥檛 have to be grand for you to impact lives. […] Music and togetherness is sometimes all you need to show your love for the sector,鈥 Resurreccion said.

Moreover, Nicolas and Resurreccion ensured that Kythe鈥檚 mission was emphasized through advocacy segments prepared by the KFI staff.

Recognizing the event鈥檚 magnitude, Nicolas acknowledged the organizers鈥 challenge of balancing academic, personal, and project responsibilities. Following this, MusiKythe Sponsorship Head Yashmin Garcia shared that Kythe鈥檚 advocacy for the children and the core team鈥檚 support for one another helped her persevere through difficulties in preparations.

A community celebration

As a participant of Kythe-Ateneo鈥檚 first benefit concert, Malcolm Lee (3 BS BIO) expressed enthusiasm in enjoying the night and the music with his friends, while also directly contributing to Kythe鈥檚 advocacy.

鈥淚 really feel honored that I鈥檓 able to help such a great cause. As a student who wants to enter the medical field, I鈥檓 really enticed by their initiatives [and] I鈥檇 love to help any way I can,鈥 Lee shared.

Furthermore, MusiKythe Logistics Head Sophia Chua expressed her joy for executing 鈥渙ne of the biggest projects鈥 Kythe has undertaken. She added that the event鈥檚 successful execution serves as a tribute to how much the organization values its advocacy for pediatric patients.

鈥淲hether it鈥檚 an external fundraiser like this or something as small as [formational] events in Kythe, I鈥檓 just so happy to be part of what helps heal the kids because it鈥檚 healing me as well,鈥 Chua said. With this, Resurreccion and Nicolas hope that MusiKythe will become an annual flagship event, serving as an avenue for the Ateneo community to acquaint themselves with Kythe鈥檚 of cultivating positive spaces for hospitalized children.
